In an emergency
If you are in danger or having a medical emergency, contact your local emergency number immediately. For example, 911 in the US, 112 across the EU, 999 in the UK, or 000 in Australia. Do not wait for a reply from ORIS or from the Community.
If you are in the United States and you are in a mental health crisis, having thoughts of suicide, or worried about someone who is, you can call or text 988 to reach the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline. It is free, confidential, and available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. If you are outside the US, you can find a local crisis line at findahelpline.com or befrienders.org.
Rymeda is not an emergency service
ORIS and the Rymeda Community are not emergency services, and they are not a substitute for professional care. ORIS is a health AI guide that provides plain-language information only. It does not diagnose, prescribe, or provide medical care. The Community is made up of people sharing their personal experiences, which are not professional medical advice and are not reviewed or endorsed by Rymeda.
Rymeda is a technology product. It is not a healthcare provider, clinic, hospital, pharmacy, insurer, or emergency service. Always seek the advice of a qualified healthcare professional about your own health, and do not delay getting care because of something you read on Rymeda.
Sharing health information safely
Talking about your health can be powerful, and it can also expose information you may later wish you had kept private. A few habits help:
- Share only what you are comfortable having other members read. Community spaces may be visible to people you do not know.
- Remember that posts can be hard to fully take back. Even after you delete something, others may have already seen it.
- Be careful with details that could identify you: your full name, employer, exact location, or photos that show where you live.
- Never share another person's private or health information without their permission, and never post someone's contact details or images without consent.
- Your Care Portal is your personal health hub and is private to you. Information you keep there is not posted to the Community unless you choose to share it.
Protecting your identity
The Rymeda Community supports pseudonymous participation. You can use a display name that is not your legal name, which makes it safer to talk about sensitive health topics. To keep that protection working for you:
- Choose a display name that does not reveal who you are or where you live.
- Be mindful that details across several posts can add up to identify you, even if no single post does.
- Watch out for anyone who pressures you to move a conversation off Rymeda, share contact details, or reveal your real identity. You are never required to do this to take part.
- If you believe your account has been accessed without your permission, email security@rymeda.com right away.
For more on how Rymeda handles your information, see our Privacy Policy.
Spotting health misinformation
Most members share in good faith, but health information online can still be wrong, outdated, or unsafe. A healthy dose of caution helps:
- Be skeptical of anyone telling you to stop taking a prescribed medication, promising a miracle cure, or giving specific dosing instructions. Talk to your own provider before acting on health information.
- Personal stories are real experiences, not medical advice. What worked for one person may not be safe for you.
- Be wary of posts that pressure you to buy a product, supplement, or treatment.
- When in doubt, bring what you read on Rymeda to a qualified healthcare professional and ask them about it. Organizing questions for a real clinician is one of the best ways to use the Community and ORIS.
Using ORIS safely
ORIS can explain health terms in plain language, help you organize questions for a real clinician, and point you toward general categories of information. It is a guide, not a doctor.
ORIS does not diagnose, prescribe, or provide medical care, and it is not an emergency service. ORIS responses can be incomplete or wrong. Do not make medical decisions based only on what ORIS tells you. Always talk to a qualified healthcare professional before acting on health information you read inside Rymeda.
